OUR STORY

Our story began in 2009 in a small studio. With only our love for the Ocean, one desk and close to no free time, our brand was born.

The statement was simple creating a stylish and technical alternative to paddle clothing. At that time, most people would wear diving or surf clothing which would be designed for full water submersion.

The first idea was offering garments that would be breathable, flexible and stylish while exercising in the extreme heat of Hong Kong. Shortly after we introduced tailored paddle shorts, comfortable and stylish for outrigger canoe and dragon boat racing. Throughout the years we put our focus on the technicality of each sport and added details to our garment that would help with the movement and comfort.

We handpick every fabric and choose every detail to fit the use of the clothing. We developed a close partnership with out manufacturer to produce high-quality products.

In 2014 we relocated in Australia and since then we've been able to establish the brand Azur Ocean Wear as a premium brand in the surf life saving and paddling communities. Our range of products now includes garments technically designed for the surf and any in & out of the water activities. Light fabrics, UV protection, high visibility for offshore and big surf conditions, flexibility, sealed waistbands and leg opening for maximum comfort and second skin feeling.

Our focus has always been creating products that bring together the best materials and stunning design to create something very special. We believe in quality, care, and creating unique products that surfers, ocean paddlers and anyone who loves the coastal life can enjoy. For that reason, one of our main focuses is developing more partnerships with local manufacturers, using recycled fabric. As ocean lovers, we want to do our bit to minimise our footprint. Colourful, creative, and inspired by what we see everyday, each product represents what we love about the water. We hope they’ll inspire you too.

DESIGNED TO GO BEYOND

AZUR's mission is to create stylish and high quality garments. Our water-friendly products are crafted with innovative materials that are quick drying, soft touch, flexible, made to withstand life and use in and by the ocean.

Our designers have long experience in the ocean and carefully select materials for their durability, comfort and all details are thought-through to meet the use of each product.

Originally designed for Australian surf ironman/woman, all our garments are versatile and allow you to run in the ocean, jump through the surf with a board or a Surf Ski freely, without restrain or worries.

About our Founder

Ocean minded, born in France, Camille spent her childhood between the Atlantic Ocean and The North African Mediterranean coast. She was fulfilling a busy career as French design & Marketing director in Hong Kong while traveling the world racing on an outrigger, surf ski, dragon boat when she founded AZUR.

Jack of all trades, Camille worked as a designer, manager, personal trainer, surf ski and outrigger canoe coach, ship-yard/boat building.

Enthusiast Water woman, you will find her in the Ocean, either on a Surfski, surfing, SUP, body surfing, surf lifesaving, outrigger paddling, dragon boating.

Paddling has brought her to travel the world for races (Hawaii, Asia, Africa, Australia, Europe)…meeting paddle across the world.

The love for the Ocean and those experiences has since then shaped her life and she is bringing it into the brand, along with her creative skills.

TECHNOLOGY

Our Thermal & Quick Dry Fabrics

Our Thermal range is made out of a hydrophobic fleece inner layer. The brushed fabrics are soft and flexible, they don't soak in water and dry very quickly, bringing maximum thermal performance. (See below the 3 thickness and finishes for our thermals)

SILVER THERMAL TOPS

They have a lighter cutter fabric, more flexible and a softer brushed fleece. Making them very light and extremely comfortable, ideal

WINTER DAWN, THERMAL TIGHTS & PANTS

They have a slightly tighter outer fabric and a thicker inner fleece, a tighter fit, similar to a rash guard fit, great for Winter, can be used as well for surfing in spring days.

Firmer fit, the outer fabric acts more as a windshield, its inner fleece much thicker this top is made for cold winter days.

MESH FABRIC :

CoolDry® JERSEY & BREATHABLE MESH :

Used in our short sleeve downwind tops (160gsm - 92% Polyester, 8% elastane) . They are extremely lightweight and breathable, they are ideal for downwind, they will keep you cool and protected from the

sun. Breathable mesh side panels are added on the sides and back for maximum breathability.

ECO FABRICS - RECYCLED VITA

Vita Xtra Life Lycra is a new advanced Italian recycled fabric made with 100% regenerated fibres from post consumer materials such as plastic bottles and fishing nets recovered from the ocean. This high quality fabric feels amazing on your skin. Its features are: sustainable, chlorine resistant, UPF 50+ sun protection, smooth and soft, shape retention, extremely durable. Vita is made up of 78% Recycled Polyester 22% Xtra Life Lycra.

SEALED WAISTBAND & LEG OPENING

The sealing silicone prints on our tights and pants, block the water inlets at the leg opening & at the waist band. The waistband prints help keeping the pants secured on your waist. You can jump on your board or on your ski, through the surf without thinking about it. The waistband remains flexible and doesn’t interfere with movement.

We use the reflective prints as a sealer on our New DAWN Thermal, and have as well added a Lycra cuff, more fitted, so the sleeves dont drag in the water.

REFLECTIVE PRINTS

On our Dawn collection we have added reflective prints. A lot of paddlers, practice early morning or at night time. We have witness few accidents on those mornings and have decided to add this feature to our top with great success. The paddlers headlight and/or the light from an incoming boat will reflect on the print, making the paddlers arm visible offering a wider spread from the headlight usually worn.

STITCHING

Flat locking is used in most of our items, we usually use 6 needles flat locking. It provides maximum strength on the stitching, maximum flexibility but more important its flat doesn't chafe.

SPORT CUTS

Side Panels and Back Panels allow for better movement and breathability. We have also freed the shoulders of our long sleeve tops to allow more movement around the shoulder.

SOFT LINING & ACTION CUTS

Soft lining for maximum comfort and glide while paddling at the same time it prevents from chafing. We also increased waist height & 7/8 length on our tights to free the angles for movement and avoid dragging.
